In view of the increasingly appalling situation in Ukraine, we at the DFA have decided to start by providing assistance on the ground. In the medium and long term, we also want to help refugees here in Germany, for example with sponsorships.
Initially, we are supporting the following three projects/institutions, which we have carefully selected and with whose initiators and participants we also maintain mostly personal contacts:
- Ukraine Air Rescue or Airlift Ukraine in cooperation with the European Danube Academy:
This is essentially a private initiative by pilots, which primarily transports essential medicines and equipment directly to Ukraine, i.e. by air. On the way back, sick and needy people are flown out of Ukraine. The project has also been widely reported in the press, see for example:

In addition to financial resources, the initiative also needs volunteers at every level as well as supplies and contacts in Germany and on the ground in Ukraine.
On the ground in Ukraine, we want to support the two institutions mentioned below with purely financial means:
- NGO Charity Center for Refugees (CCR):
The organization is located in the Republic of Moldova and supports Ukrainian refugees in many situations.
The main reason for selecting this organization and rating it as particularly worthy of support is the fact that the Republic of Moldova has the lowest per capita income in Europe and that it nevertheless takes in around 10% of the people currently fleeing from Ukraine.

- Roma youth organization ARCA:
The institution has been in existence since 2018 and works in the public sector in Ukraine to ensure the support and preservation of Roma culture and history and, above all, to establish and maintain an intercultural dialog. At the moment, this youth organization is trying to find affected persons. As we have already committed ourselves to similar goals in many contexts, we also see great potential here in terms of willingness to donate.

All these projects and initiatives harmonize with the goals of the EDA, such as international understanding, development aid and democratic cooperation.
The European Danube Academy has set up a separate account for donations at the Volksbank Ulm-Biberach, IBAN: DE98 6309 0100 0413 9590 23.
If donations are received without a specific purpose, they will be forwarded directly to the three organizations and initiatives mentioned above in equal shares.
You will receive a donation receipt on request. But please help us to keep the bureaucratic effort as low as possible. For donations of less than € 300.00, your bank statement is sufficient proof for the tax office.
