One of the central topics of the EDA is the promotion and qualification of future executives as well as young scientists in the Danube region. The EDA has therefore established a scientific network in cooperation with universities in Ulm and Neu-Ulm and universities along the Danube (Krems, Budapest, Novi Sad, Ruse), within the framework of which an annual “Danube School” for students and young scientists from the Danube countries takes place in Ulm and Illertissen (V\u00f6hlinschloss University Center). It is led by Prof. Gerhard Mayer (Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences) and Paul F. Langer MSc; the lecturers are renowned professors from various disciplines and “Danube experts”.<\/p>\n

The “Danube Summer School” serves to promote and qualify young scientists with regard to management skills – a central task within the framework of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. It sees itself as a qualified contribution against the “brain drain”, the still prevalent emigration of young elites from the south-eastern European Danube countries and one of the central themes of the EU strategy for the Danube region.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The “Danube Summer School” has developed into a flagship project with great popularity in the Danube region. In the meantime, successful successor and partner institutions have been found: the Danube Winter School of the Danube Area Research Center in Novi Sad\/Serbia, the Danube School at Andr\u00e1ssy University in Budapest and the Danube School at the University of Ruse\/Bulgaria.<\/p>\n

On July 12, 2018, a Coordination and Evaluation Advisory Board for the Danube School series was established to advise the EDA on the further development of the Danube School series and to ensure the level of the individual Danube Schools in the future. The last Danube School in Ulm\/Neu-Ulm took place in October 2019. The Danube School 2020 was postponed to November 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
